Bought the Helix xl 4 years ago and can honestly say I love it. I paired it with a 12’9 TFO ML and love it. Every now and then I can hear some grinding and it’ll stop mid spin but I think I just need to get some new bearing for it. Absolutely would get one for your first set up or even as a back up!

Great first steelhead reel. Second season using it and with a drop of oil it spins like brand new. Just bought the matrix fully ported as well and can’t wait to test it out. I primarily buy raven products for my steelhead/salmon fishing and will continue to do so. Their customer service is top notch. The only issues I ever have with ordering from them online is the shipping. It’s often delayed due o the shipping services they provide. Other than that I’m very happy with their products
